Project narrative

In 2017, the Chinese Government provided a $2 million grant — through an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) — to the Government of Albania for the provision of equipment to rehabilitate the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet and Folkloric Ensemble and other unspecified activities. On May 9th, 2017, the Chinese government allocated 10mln for the renovation of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre and People’s Ensemble. The recipient of this grant was the Ministry of Culture. The estimated completion date for the project is September 15th, 2020. The inauguration of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet occurred five years after reconstruction.
