Description
On August 23, 2011, Autoputevi Republike Srpske — a state-owned motorway operator in the Republic of Srpksa — signed a preliminary agreement with China Road & Bridge Corporation (CRBC) regarding the 71.914 km Banja Luka-Doboj Motorway Construction Project. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Aleksandar Dzombić, announced that the agreement was the basis for loan negotiations with China Eximbank. The total cost of the project was EUR 400 million, and if approved, the China Eximbank loan would have covered 85% of the total project cost (EUR 340 million). However a loan agreement with China Eximbank was never finalized. Autoputevi Republike Srpske ultimatedly secured loans from the EBRD and the EIB to implement this project, which involved the construction of a 71.914 km motorway from the Banja Luka (the capital of the Republic of Srpska) to the city of Doboj.
