Project narrative

On February 8, 2018, Senegal and China signed the exchange of letters for the installation and access to satellite television system in more than 300 villages in Senegal (在塞内加尔三百个村落实施“万村通”项目的换文). This is part of the Access to Satellite TV in Ten Thousand African Villages Project committed by the Chinese government in 2015 (#57618). The project implementer is StarTimes, which had established presence in Senegal since 2010 (#30688). StarTimes installed TV equipment across 14 provinces and covered 300 villages in Senegal. According to a Xinhua report, this project in Senegal was completed in 2018, with jenueAfrique reporting that broadcasts were made available on July 19, 2018. The second phase of this project can be found in Record ID#88620.
