Description
On March 24, 2010, China Development Bank and Beltelecom — a Belarusian state telecoms operator — signed a $60 million loan agreement for network modernization activities by opening a credit line. The borrowing terms of the loan are unknown. However, it is known that the proceeds of the loan were to be use by the borrower to purchase equipment and upgrade its network. More specifically, Beltelecom planned to use the loan proceeds to expand it data transfer network and provide a moveable inspection complex.
Additional details
This CDB loan is not included in the Overseas Development Finance Dataset published by Boston University’s Global Development Policy Center in December 2020. Since there is no repeatedly-counted risk for the CBD's credit line towards Beltelecom, AidData does not set the project as an umbrella project.
