Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On September 28, 2007, the Jakarta BTIP Confucius (or Kongzi) Institute in Indonesia was inaugurated. It is co-founded by Hainan Normal University (HNU) and Bina Terampil Insan Persada (BTIP or Skilled Development of Persada Individuals) under the authorization of the Office of Chinese Language Council International-- also called Hanban. It is the first of its kind in Indonesia. The cost of the project is unknown, but the Chinese government predominantly finances Confucius Institutes through grants. The Jakarta BTIP Confucius Institute's primary task will be to teach Chinese language skills but also to share Chinese culture and art.
