Project narrative

In 2013, China Eximbank and the Government of Angola signed a $50 million loan agreement for the Menongue Medium and High Voltage Power Grid Construction and Expansion Project. The borrowing terms of this loan are unknown. The construction period for this project was 20 months, starting around May 2013. This project involved the installation and expansion of a medium and high voltage power grid network in the city of Menongue within Cuando Cubango Province. Sinohydro was the contractor responsible for implementation. This project was completed on or around 13 January 2015.

The Portuguese project title is Projecto de Instalação e Ampliação da Rede de média tensão e baixa tensão na Cidade de Menongue. This loan is not included in the database of Chinese loan commitments that SAIS-CARI released in July 2020.
