In October 2013, the Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development announced that China would fund the Imam Khomeini Airport-Parand City Subway Line Project, which will link a project to link Imam Khomeini Airport to Tehran by subway. The subway is planned to be 52 km long. The Chinese funding will come Iranian oil revenue frozen in China, but the modality is unclear. Metro route starts from Shahed metro station, then reaches Aftab town station, then Imam Khomeini airport station. ) And then from there will be connected to the new city of Parand. The project will be implemented with Tehran Urban and Suburban Railroad Company and the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways. As of January 2015 the planning stages of the project were underway. In December 2022, the President of Iran visited the subway line to learn about the latest status of construction on the project. At this point, construction had started and there was only one remaining part of the line left undone. It was predicted at this time that construction would be done by June 2023.
