On March 8, 2017, the Chinese consulate granted scholarships to 60 Turkish students for their outstanding efforts in studying the Chinese language. The awards were presented by Qian Bo, the Chinese consul-general in Istanbul, under a scholarship program established in 2016. 20 of the students were also awarded a chance to visit China for one week in June. The scholarship program was set up by the Chinese consulate general in 2016 and more than 60 Turkish students were first granted the scholarship in March 2017.
