Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On March 4, 2010, the Chinese International Publishing Group (a.k.a. China Foreign Language Publishing and Distribution Bureau) donated books to Turkish International Strategic Research Organization (USAK).The book donation ceremony was held in USAK's headquarters. The donated books and magazines cover Chinese politics, economy, culture and ethnic and religious policies. China International Publishing Group hopes to help USAK scholars understand and study China. The project has been coded as representational intent due to the material covered in the donated books. USAK is one of the earliest established, largest, and most influential academic institutions in Turkey. It has a unique influence on the Turkish government's diplomatic decision-making. The Asia-Pacific Library is planning to build a library of 150,000 volumes, which will be the largest professional library for Asia-Pacific research in the Middle East, Transcaucasia, and Southern Europe. The value of the donated books is unknown.
