Project narrative

On March 5, 2008, the Chinese Government and the Government of Samoa signed an exchange of notes, which committed an unspecified amount of grant funding for the Vaitele Primary School Renovation Project. The purpose of this project was to renovate a primary school (known as Vaitele-Uta Primary School) in the village of Vaitele (Vaitele-Uta) on the island of Upolu, 3 km from the Central Business District (CBD) of Apia. Shanghai Construction Engineering Group was the contractor responsible for implementation. On August 21, 2009, a groundbreaking ceremony took place. Then, on April 14, 2010, a handover ceremony for the project took place.
