Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

During Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Rwanda in July 2018, the Chinese Government and Rwandan Government signed an agreement for Chinese assistance in a geological survey and mineral assessment project. On December 6, 2019, a group of approximately 120 Chinese mining experts arrived in Rwanda to assist with the geological and mineral survey project. A welcome reception was held for the team. The team plans to stay in Rwanda for the next three years to continue the survey project. The project includes carrying out a geochemical sampling of mineral potential across the country by picking segmentary samples in valleys, river streams and in hills to determine what mineral potential exists across the country; understanding better of the geological map of Rwanda through satellite based remote sensing technology; and knowledge transfering because there will be a team of geologists and other geoscientists working closely with the Chinese team.
