Description

On 13 November 2019, a ceremony occurred for the official signing of a collaboration agreement between the National Administration of Radio and Television of the People's Republic of China and the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT). The National Administration of Radio and Television of the People's Republic of China is to provide a $114 million donation for the acquisition of new transmitters and a greater digital radio and television signal, which was announced via the Execution Agreement for Phase III of the donation for the Digital Television Deployment Program in Cuba signed on 25 September, 2019. The collaboration agreement was signed between the President of the company Solintel SA, Abel Martínez Abad, and the Division Director of the China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchange, Wu Junfeng. Phase III of Cuba's Digital Television Deployment Program was first discussed in a framework agreement signed on 24 September, 2016 for a renovation project linked to the production of press and graphic materials, which was signed by Chinese Prime Minister, Li Keqiang, and the Army General, President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Raúl Castro Ruz. Phases I and II of Cuba's Digital Television Deployment Program are captured in linked project #72069.
