Project narrative

In 2011, the Chinese Government provided a grant to the Government of Suriname for the repair and renovation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office building. Weihai International Economic and Technical Cooperation Co. Ltd. was the contractor responsible for project implementation. The project was completed and handed over to the authorities on December 2, 2016. A Dutch news magazine reported that the project had cost ovwer 10,000,000 euros. The original Ministry of Foreign Affairs building was constructed with Chinese grant funding approximately 10 years prior to the beginning of this project (see Record ID#36682).
