Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On May 30, 2007, a team of youth volunteers left for Guyana for a one year term to assist with medical, agricultural technology, and physical education aid projects. This agreement has been renewed on several occasions, with recorded instances of Chinese youth volunteer teams in 2007, 2010, and 2012. The program was funded with the assistance of the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, and by the local Guyanese embassy. The first team of youth volunteers arrived on June 1, 2007. The 2012 team worked in fields including environmental science, agricultural technology, geological and mineral research, physical education, and website development. All teams appear to have been based out of Jiangsu.
