On June 7, 2013, the eleventh batch of medical doctors arrived in Guyana to serve at the Georgetown Public Hospital and the Linden Hospital Complex. The sixteen-member team specialized in the areas of orthopaedics, urology, general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, anesthesiology, plastic surgery and acupuncture. The team planned to stay in Guyana for two years. During the course of their two-year stint, the team treated over 41,000 patients and performed 6000 surgeries. On June 15, 2016, a ceremony was held at the Chinese Embassy in Guyana to welcome the twelfth batch of Chinese medical professionals to Guyana and to farewell the eleventh batch. Previously, a tenth team was sent to Guyana in 2012 (see project ID #71205). The twelfth batch arrived in 2016 (project #71207). The thirteenth batch of doctors to Guyana were sent in 2017 (see project ID #71208). The thirteenth batch was sent to Guyana in 2017 (see project ID #71210).
