Description
In 2016, the Chinese Government pledged that it would provide buses designed to transport disabled individuals to Antigua and Barbuda. On April 29, 2016, the Chinese Government donated a new Toyota HiAce Bus to Antigua and Barbuda's Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment. The small bus was capable of transporting two disabled individuals. The donation was ultimately set to go towards the National Vocational and Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities. At the time, a second, larger bus capable of carrying six to eight disabled individuals was set to arrive in Antigua and Barbuda in the next month (May 2016). However, it appears that this donation was delayed until 2017, when the Chinese Government donated a new 2016 model Toyota Coaster bus with a 4000CC diesel engine loaded with special equipment to aid the transportation of the disabled to the Ministry of Health, Wellness and the Environment.
Additional details
As both buses were pledged together (see the mention of the Chinese ambassador's offer of aid on buses in "Rehab Center for persons with disabilities gets new vehicle"), AidData has treated them as one project.
