Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In 2017, the Chinese Government signed an unspecified agreement for the Hanoi Chinese Culture Center (CCC) Construction Project. On November 12, 2017, government officials jointly unveiled their plans to establish the Center at the newly inaugurated Vietnam-China Friendship Palace (see Record ID#85377, #64398). This project was financed by an unspecified grant from the Chinese Government. According to the Center's official website, the purpose of this project was to promote Chinese culture through events, training, ideological dialogue, information services, and tourism promotion. In January 2018, a spokesman of the cultural department of China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region announced that they would help build the facility. As of August 2020, a temporary office was opened in Hanoi while works were underway at the Vietnam-China Friendship Palace.

The Chinese project title is 河内中国文化中心. The Vietnamese project title is Trung tâm văn hóa Trung Quốc tại Hà Nội. This unofficial source (https://ha-noi.congtydoanhnghiep.com/trung-tam-van-hoa-trung-quoc-tai-ha-noi) claims that the Center got its operational license on May 17, 2019 and that the address is Vietnam-China Friendship Palace, 188 Le Quang Road, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi.
