On February 20, 2008, a team of Chinese military music experts arrived for a four-month long training course with the bands of the Barbados Defense Force (BDF) and the Barbados Cadet Corps (BCC) (see linked project ID#71653). During the training course, China donated musical instruments to the BDF and the BCC. These instruments were used in a joint performance by the Barbadian and Chinese groups playing Chinese and Barbadian music during the closing ceremony of the training course on June 19, 2008.
