Project narrative

Following a visit by President Álvaro Uribe Vélez to China on April 2 2005, the Academic Mobility Program (Programa de Movilidad Académica) between Colombia and China was established. This agreement provided for three groups of Chinese students to Colombia, however, the program has continued through at least 2013. The stated goal of their visit was to provide instruction in the Mandarin language and Chinese Culture while perfecting their own Spanish. The first group of 21 students visited during the 2006 academic year. The second group of 20 students arrived in the 2007 academic year and each attended different Colombian institutions. The final group of 20 students from the original agreement visited during the 2008 academic year. As of February 2013, 141 students had visited Colombia through this program.
