Project narrative

On 10 July, 2009, Ding Shan, the Chargé d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Cuba, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Ramon Ripoll Dias, signed Letters of Exchange confirming the provision blood bank equipment to Cuba's National Blood Bank Network (Red Nacional de Bancos de Sangre). This batch of blood bank equipment is the third batch provided by the Chinese government to Cuba and will be mainly used in remote mountainous areas in eastern Cuba. The batch will consist of biological safety cabinets, centrifuges, blood refrigeration equipment and mobile blood banks, and other necessary equipment. On December 28, 2009, the equipment contract was signed by Yan Jingyao, vice president of the MEHECO Corporation, and Nancy Cruz, from Empresa Ejecutora de Donativos (EMED), the executor of donations in Cuba.
