Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On February 13, 2018, during the second Chinese medical team's visit to Barbados, a handover ceremony occurred for a grant of medical supplies from the Chinese government to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH). In his speech at the event, Ambassador Yan Xiusheng recognized the Chinese medical teams that previously provided assistance to the hospital (see projects #54835, #54834, #71321, and #54836). The grant included both medical equipment and consumables. It is valued at USD $200,000. In 2016, China donated hospital heart monitors to the hospital (Record ID#71832). In 2017, China also granted USD $200,000 to QEH (Record ID#63992).

Staff comments

Barbados is not ODA-eligible from 2011 onwards. Transaction amount is calculated by subtracting 400,000 USD - 200,000 USD, as sources report the two grants of medical equipment combined (referring to the grants captured in this project and Record ID#63992) were worth a total of 400,000 USD, and the grant in Record ID#63992 was worth approximately 200,000 USD.
