Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On August 28th 2012, China Harbour Engineering Co., Ltd. (CHEC) established the the "CHEC Star Baller of the Month" award, which includes a package of 30,000 dollars. The donation is available to players in the Jamaican National Premier League. With the typical premier league season running from September to March, the transaction value was calculated by multiplying 30,000 by 7. Some of the recipients during the 2012-2013 season were Fabian 'Ding' McCarthy and Jermie Lynch. This league is the top division for men's football (soccer) in Jamaica. According to Jennifer Armond, CHEC's communications manager, the donation was made "to reach to the hearts and pockets of the young men that live in the communities who enjoy playing and watching the sport." The donation was utilized to maintain the welfare of football clubs across Jamaica. Linked with Record ID#70723, a flat monetary donation to the Jamaica National Premier League.
