Project narrative

On October 14, 2019, the Chinese Embassy in Lesotho hosted a welcome ceremony for the 14th Chinese medical team consisting of 9 members majoring in anesthesiology, gynecology, orthopedics, radiology, internal medicine, acupuncture, and moxibustion. The 14th Chinese Medical team members are from Wuhan Fourth and Fifth Hospital (武汉市第四、第五医院), Wuhan Central Hospital (武汉市中心医院), Dongxihu District People's Hospital (东西湖区人民医院), China Resources Wuhan Iron and Steel General Hospital(华润武钢总医院), and Venezuela's Foreign Exchange and Cooperation Center(委对外交流合作中心). Among them, the medical team undertook the main specialist diagnosis and treatment tasks of the Mortebon Hospital in Laribe, especially the Obstetrics and Gynecology and Orthopedics, and completed more than 11,500 outpatient visits and more than 1,200 major and minor surgeries, including more than 130 emergency surgeries. 4 free clinics and 3 medical tours, more than 900 patients were diagnosed and treated, nearly 10 surgeries were performed, more than 700 people were treated and consulted for employees of Chinese-funded companies in Lesotho and overseas Chinese, and about 210,000 RMB worth of drugs and medical devices was donated to the Lesotho recipient hospitals. On January 8, 2021, the 14th batch of Chinese (Hubei) medical aid teams to Lesotho completed the 14-month national medical aid mission and entered Shenzhen on December 24, 2020. They arrived in Wuhan by plane on January 8, 2021. Linked to Record ID#89245.
