Project narrative

From May 19 to June 4, 2016, twenty Barbadian professionals, from public and private institutions in the financial services sector, attended the two-week 2016 Seminar on Financial Management for Barbados. The event was funded by the Chinese government. This bilateral seminar, the fourth held between China and Barbados, covered topics such as micro-finance, financial market development, financial risk management, and the Chinese finance sector. Though primarily held at the Shanghai Education and Training Centre of Commerce, the seminar also included visits to the Shanghai Stock Exchange, as well as Wuhan and Yichang to learn more about China’s history and culture. From Barbados, representatives were present from the following organizations: the Central Bank of Barbados (eight representatives), the Financial Services Commission, Invest Barbados, the University of the West Indies, the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Barbados Cooperative Credit Union League, the Barbados Investment and Development Corporation, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Finance, the Barbados Youth Business Trust, and Bitt Inc.
