Description

On February 26, 2014, a farewell party was held for a group of Barbadian economic and trade officials bound for a three-week bilateral seminar in China on trade investment. The seminar, the first of its kind between the two countries, was funded by the Chinese government and organized by the Academy for International Business Officials (managed by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce) in Beijing. The twenty-person delegation included both public and private sector employees, including a research officer from the Barbados International Business Promotion Corporation (now Invest Barbados). The content of the seminar primarily focused on China's economy and exploring new avenues for economic and trade cooperation and included a trip to the Yinlu agro-processing center in Xiamen.
