Project narrative

On April 17, 2020 the Chinese Embassy in Dominica handed over a donation of medical supplies consisting of 15 non-invasive ventilators in addition to forehead scanner thermometers to Dominica to aid in the fight against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The handover ceremony was held at the China-Dominica Friendship Hospital in Roseau. In attendance were Dominican officials Reginald Austrie, Senior Minister and Minister of Housing and Urban Development; Irving McIntyre, Minister of Health; and Kenneth Darroux, Minister of Foreign Affairs. Also in attendance was Chinese Embassy Counsellor, Luo Songtao. During the handover ceremony, Dominica’s Health Minister Dr. Irving McIntyre said non- invasive ventilators are used globally to manage mild to moderate cases of COVID-19, and can also be used to handle other diseases like asthma.
