Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On July 2, 2015, the Chinese Embassy in Bolivia, the La Paz Municipal Government, and the Higher University of San Andrés (USMA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Chinese Language Teaching. In the MoU, the organizations agreed to facilitate the arrival of two instructors from China to teach Mandarin Chinese language classes at USMA. The La Paz Municipal Government agreed to facilitate residence permits and guarantee housing and health insurance to the instructors, the UMSA agreed to provide the classrooms and libraries in which to teach, and the Embassy agreed to provide teaching materials, tickets and salaries to the teachers. The instructors' length of stay was from September 2015 to December 2016. After the signing ceremony, the La Paz Provincial Government awarded Ambassador Wu the "Outstanding Contribution in Education" medal. The program was renewed twice, once in December 2016 and again in December of 2017.
