Description
On April 13, 2020, the China-Andean National Novel Coronavirus Prevention Video Exchange Conference (中国-安第斯国家新冠肺炎防治视频交流会) took place. At the conference, experts from China shared their strategies and experiences responding to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, with the intention of helping experts from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and other unspecified Andean countries respond to the pandemic in their respective countries. The experts from all countries involved specifically discussed testing, detection methods, prevention and control measures, clinical treatment, and asymptomatic infections. It also included a question-and-answer session. From China, experts in attendance were from the hospital associated with the Tongji Medical College (affiliated with Huazhong University of Science and Technology) and Hubei Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention (湖北省疾病预防控制中心). Experts from Bolivia were from the Bolivian Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (Sociedad Boliviana de Enfermedades Infecciosas y Microbiología Clínica), the Bolivian Ministry of Health, and the Higher University of San Andrés School of Medicine. The videoconference was organized by the Department of Latin America of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Hubei Province Foreign Affairs Office (湖北省外事办 or 中共湖北省委外事工作委员会办公室), and the Hubei Province Health Commission (湖北省卫生健康委员会). The Chinese Embassies in the countries in attendance also provided assistance facilitating.
