Project narrative

On April 20, 2015, China signed a Letter of Exchange on Feasibility Study for Hospital of Gwadar Construction Project. Under the agreement, China government provided RMB 900,000 for the feasibility study. According to the CPEC, there was a groundbreaking ceremony on December 16, 2019. After the completion of this feasibility study, the Chinese Government agreed to provide an RMB 240 million grant for the China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital Construction Project in Gwadar (see Record ID#52542). This project involves the upgrading of the hospital from 50 to 150 beds, and then a final extension to 300. The 150 bed upgrade was completed on December 16, 2019, when an inauguration ceremony was held.
