Project narrative

On July 13, 2017, a sending off ceremony for 20 students and teachers was held, before they left to participate in a 10-day 2017 International Students Summer Camp in Beijing. This camp is sponsored by Beijing Municipal Commission of Education (BMCE). The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan sponsored the Pakistani participants, in collaboration with BMCE and the Beijing International Education Exchange Center. Madam Diana Bao, wife of Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong, made personal contributions to make this project possible. According to the Embassy article, the students and teachers will visit the Tianaman men Square, Forbidden City, and Great Wall, taste Beijing roast ducks, try Chinese Calligraphy and traditional painting, Beijing Opera Facial Masks, Paper-Cutting and braiding Chinese knots. As a result of this cultural exchange, this project has representational intent. The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan had organized the Summer Camp program for Pakistani students and teachers for past 4 years, with a total participation of 83 people. This year, 17 students and 3 teachers were invited, from Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University, Hazara School, the City School and Islamabad Model College for Boys.
