Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On November 21, 2016, the Chinese Minister of Commerce and the Peruvian Minister of Foreign Affairs signed Letters of Exchange pledging a grant of 4000 computers to the Peruvian Judiciary worth 28 million RMB, to be funded through an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA) also signed on November 21, 2016 (see Record ID#73600). The project also included technical assistance from a team of experts from China, as well as the transport of the computers to the Port of Callao in Peru. The computers were granted with the intent of being integrated in the new electronic subpoena system and a larger effort to modernize and digitize the Peruvian court system in order to increase efficiency in the judicial process. The computers would be provided to courts throughout Peru and the National Criminal Chamber. On July 31, 2017, representatives of the Chinese government and the Peruvian High Court assembled for the handover ceremony for the grant, taking place at the Peruvian High Court.
