Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On July 26, 2010, the Peruvian Ministry of National Defense hosted a handover ceremony for a mobile field hospital and related medical equipment donated by the Chinese Ministry of Defense and valued at about 2 million USD. The field hospital includes 12 vehicles including ambulances, disinfection vehicles, and oxygen-generating vehicles, and four tents, and has the capacity to attend to 100 patients. Chinese military doctors and engineers also trained Peruvian military doctors and engineers on use of the hospital. This training was considered Stage 1 of the Angel of Peace 2010 (“Ángel de Paz 2010”) humanitarian mission, with the second stage captured in Record ID#73899. Secretary of Defense Rafael Rey and Army Commander General Otto Givovich attended the handover ceremony. The purpose of the donation was to assist the Peruvian Armed Forces in its ability to respond quickly to natural disasters and terrorism. It was originally pledged to be granted in 2007, following the Pisco earthquake.
