Project narrative

On June 25, 2012, the Chinese Government and the Government of Madagascar signed letters of exchange related to a grant for the Borehole Drilling in Vatovavy-Fitovinany and Atsimo-Atsinanana Project. The monetary value of this grant commitment was $1,875,644. This project involved the drilling of 100 boreholes (water wells) in the Vatovavy-Fitovinany Region and the Atsimo-Atsinanana Region. The project commenced on December 26, 2012 and ended on August 20, 2013. Then, on August 30, 2014, the Chinese Government and the Government of Madagascar signed a project completion acceptance certificate. An official project handover ceremony was organized on September 2, 2013. According the the Government of Madagascar’s Aid Management Platform, this grant had fully disbursed 101% ($1,894,400) of the original grant commitment value by June 30, 2013.
