In 2013, the Chinese Government and the Government of Senegal signed a grant agreement worth 400,000,000 CFA francs for the Solar Street Lighting Demonstration Project. This project involved the installation of 80 double-armed solar street lights in the city of Dakar — near the National Assembly, National Road No. 1, the Grand Mosque of Dakar, and the Cathedral of Dakar. It was officially completed and handed over to the authorities on April 16, 2013. This solar street light demonstration project took place in the city of Dakar.
