Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

In June 2007, the Chinese Government and the Government of Moldova signed an economic and technical cooperation agreement (ETCA), which committed RMB 10 million of grant funding for two purposes: RMB 7 million for the acquisition of 1,500 computers for student hostels (captures in Record ID#73190) in 2012, and RMB 3 million (EUR 600,000) for the provision of respiratory ventilators (captured in Record ID#66443). According to the Government of Moldova’s External Assistance Management Platform (PGAE), the implementation of the computer equipment project (PGAE ID# idea_3020) commenced on November 21, 2012 and ended on September 21, 2013. The PGAE also indicates that the Chinese Government committed and disbursed EUR 984,110 in total for this project. The PGAE also indicates that the grant was fully disbursed by November 21, 2013.

The Romanian project title is PROCURAREA DE CALCULATOARE IN CAMINELE STUDENTESTI. We cannot rule out the possibility that this project is a duplicate of Record ID#42500 (a donation of 1,200 computers and 200 printers). However, we assume that they are separate for the time being because Record ID#73190 was reportedly completed on September 21, 2013, and Record ID#42500 involved the provision of computers in November 2013 and December 2013.
