In maybe 2007, China Eximbank and the Government of Sudan signed a $20,645,600 USD loan agreement for the South Omdurman Electricity Transmission Line Project. The borrowing terms of this loan are unknown. The purpose of the project was to complete a 220 kV ring line around Khartoum. The project involved the construction of a 16 km, 110KV transmission line and the installation of a 300MV substation. China National Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. (CNEEC) was the contractor responsible for implementation. Project implementation took place between October 2007 and March 2011.

The Arabic project title is الخط الناقل الجموعية – بانت This loan is not included in the database of Chinese loan commitments that SAIS-CARI released in July 2020. AidData did not find any evidence as to when the loan agreement was actually signed. Therefore, the commitment year is coded as 2007 for now to match the year when works began.
