Chinese Government provides $4 million grant for Confucius Institute Building Construction Project at the School of Chinese Language and Culture

Project narrative

In 2017, the Chinese Government provided a $4 million grant to the Government of Eritrea for the construction of a Confucius Institute Building at the School of Chinese Language and Culture. A groundbreaking ceremony for this project took place on March 8, 2017. Dr. Wang Xiaohua, Director of the Confucius Institute, said that the building would be 2500 square meters. Mr. Yemane Gebremeskel, Minister of Information, Mr. Arefaine Berhe, Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Kahsai Gebrehiwet, Minister of Labor and Human Welfare as well as Prof. Tadesse Mehari, Executive Director of National Commission for Higher Education were present on the occasion.
