Description
In 2018, the Chinese Government provided a grant to the Government of Burundi for the Access to Satellite Television for 10,000 African Villages Project. The monetary value of this grant is unknown. The project involved the provision of digital television sets, projectors, and receiving terminals (decoders) to 300 villages in Burundi. Each village received 20 decoders and three solar television kits. StarTimes was the contractor responsible for project implementation. A project commencement ceremony took place on March 12, 2018, and the project was officially completed and handed over to the authorities on March 1, 2019. Chinese Ambassador to Burundi Li Changlin attended the completion ceremony of the project and signed the project handover certificate with Burundi Minister of Communications and Media Frédéric Nahimana. This project is an extension project of the digital TV migration joint venture project in #56756 and umbrella project of the "Wan Cun Tong" Project (See project ##57618), which is also called "10,000 villages plus" ("10,000 more villages").
