Project narrative

In 2008, CNPC AktobeMunaiGas (CNPC AMG), a Kazakhstan-based subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation, provided $776,900 USD to support education in Kazakhstan. The donation included funds to finance the study of 77 Kazakhstani students at the China University of Petroleum (Beijing) and 35 students for study in Kazakhstan.

Staff comments

Project status was coded as "Completion" because it is evident that the funds were totally disbursed to the fund. AidData has assumed that "contributed" meant donated/granted; the language implies that this money went beyond scholarships, so the flow type was coded as "Grant" and not scholarships. "Year uncertain" was checked because it is not confirmed that this donation was committed to in 2008.
