Project narrative

In 2004, CNPC AktobeMunaiGas (CNPC AMG), a Kazakhstan-based subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation, financed the construction of a museum and a memorial monument to Kazakhstani national hero Aliya Moldagulova. Moldagulova was a female Soviet sniper born in the Aktobe Region killed in action in 1944 during World War II. The monument was reportedly a statue.

Staff comments

"Project status" was coded as "Completion" because it appears that all Chinese funds were disbursed. Based on the details, AidData has assumed this was a donation and coded it as such. "Year uncertain" box was checked because it is not confirmed that this donation was committed to in 2004. Furthermore, one source, ("中国石油中亚油气合作项目履行社会责任纪实") names 2005 as the year of donation, while others name 2004. AidData has chosen the earlier year as the commitment year.
