Description
On May 9, 2003, Victory Day, CNPC AktobeMunaiGas (CNPC AMG), a Kazakhstan-based subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation, donated 80 apartments it had purchased in the city of Aktobe to veterans of World War II. 80 Soviet Army veterans - many widowed and lonely - were the beneficiaries of this donation. The building was located in a prosperous part of Aktobe. All of the apartments were located in a single 80-apartment residential building. CNPC AMG also set aside $63,700 USD to subscribe the veterans to newspapers and magazines. CNPC AMG was still spending that amount every year as of 2017. For this project and its subprojects, see linked project ID#73474.
Additional details
Some sources claim that the donation was made in 2001; however, the majority specifically state that the handover of the apartments came on Victory Day in May 2003, which is what AidData has coded here.
