Chinese Government provides grant for Djoué Radio Station Equipment Upgrading and Rehabilitation Project (Linked to Project ID#72848, #72850)

In 2003, China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) provided a grant to the Government of the Republic of Congo for the Djoué Radio Station Equipment Upgrading and Rehabilitation Project. The monetary value of this grant commitment is unknown. These grant proceeds were drawn at least in part from a $2.8 million grant agreement that the Chinese Government and the Government of the Republic of Congo signed in January 2003. The project involved the supply, installation and commissioning of one shortwave radio launching station, two 50KW shortwave radio transmitters, 3 antenna feeders, antenna exchange switches, power distribution equipment, and air conditioning equipment. China Radio and Television International Economic and Technical Cooperation Corporation (CRTV) was the contractor responsible for implementation. This project was completed on February 28, 2003. It passed a final MOFCOM inspection on March 17, 2003. It was officially handed over to the Congolese authorities in August 2003.

The Chinese project title is 援刚果朱埃广播电台设备更新和大修项目 or 刚果（布）朱埃电台工程. The French project tittle is la réhabilitation d'un centre-émetteur du Djoué. The project is linked with Phase 4 of Djoué Radio Station Technical Cooperation Project (See Project ID#72848), and Phase 5 of Djoué Radio Station Technical Cooperation Project (See Project ID#72850).
