Project narrative

On 18 August 2011, the Chinese Ambassador hosted a reception sending off 20 Samoan students who won scholarships from the Chinese government to study in China during the 2011/12 academic year. The value of each scholarship is unknown. The awardees arrived in China in early September 2011. Out of 20 students, 13 received the Chinese Government Scholarship (#49376) under the bilateral scholarship scheme, and the remaining 7 were awarded through the China-Pacific Islands Forum regional scholarship program (umbrella Record ID#73681).
