Description
In late July 2010, Pakistan experienced the worst floods in 80 years due to heavy monsoon rains and strong winds. In late August and September 2010, the Chinese government sent two international search and rescue teams to Thatta district in Sindh province. This project captures the second team made up of 59 members. The first team is captured in project #36861. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Financial Tracking Service captures both of these teams in flow ID #79528. On September 14, 2010 the second Chinese search and rescue team arrived in Pakistan. Their tasks included technical assistance to rescue operations and medical treatment of thousands of victims. It is unclear when they returned to China but AidData assumes they completed their mission. This is one of four teams sent by the Chinese government to help with flood relief efforts in Pakistan in 2010. The other three are captured in project #36861, #36859, and #37069.
