Project narrative

In 2003, China's Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) and the Government of Ethiopia signed a $7.5 million grant agreement for the 2.6 km Gotera-Wollo Sefer Road Reconstruction Project. The purpose of the project was to reconstruct a 2.6 km road in Addis Ababa that runs from Gotera to Wollo Sefer. China Road & Bridge Corporation (CRBC) was the contractor responsible for project implementation. Construction commenced on September 25, 2003. The project was completed and put into operation on December 17, 2003. Addis Ababa Mayor Arkebe Oqubay and Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing attended the inauguration ceremony.

1. This project is also known as the Ethio-China Friendship Road Reconstruction Project. The Chinese project title is 埃塞俄比亚格特拉—威勒斯佛道路改造项目（G—W路) or 埃中友谊路. 2. Another portion of the road seemed to have been initiated on January 20, 2004 and completed on April 20, 2004, with CRBC remaining as the contractor (see "Ethiopia - China Friendship Avenue").
