Description

In 2015, Chinese president Xi Jinping pledged to grant 1,000 new university scholarships for Kenyan students to study at Chinese universities over the following three years (umbrella project #52535). The first batch of students left for China in 2016. China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) helped follow through with this pledge by implementing a railway studies scholarship program which aims sponsor a total of 100 Kenyan students. Beijing Jiaotong University hosted the students. The value of each scholarship is unknown. The first batch of 25 students left for China in 2016 (#59732). At the end of February 2017, 35 Kenyan students under the second batch left for China.
