Full Description

Project narrative

On April 21, 2010, the Chinese Government and the Government of Gabon signed an exchange of letters for Chinese grant aid intended for the construction of two primary schools in Gabon. The donated amount committed by the Chinese Government is unclear. On the same day, the two governments also signed an Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement (ETCA), which committed RMB 40 million of grant funding for this project (captured in #60469). The project involves the construction of two primary schools: one near PK 11 in Melen district on the outskirts of Libreville and another in the town of Mouila. The construction of the school in the Melen district included 9 classrooms, 1 meeting room, 3 administrative offices, 2 sanitary blocks for teachers and students, 1 sports platform and a water tower supplied from a borehole. CCCC First Highway Engineering Group Co. ltd and China Geo-Engineering Corporation International Ltd. (CGCINT) were the contractors responsible for implementation. Construction started in December 2013 and ended on May 4, 2015. The project was officially completed and handed over to the local authorities on July 24, 2015. This project is part of the umbrella Record ID#30116.
