All the participating countries were members of the Arab League. The following countries were represented: Oman, Yemen, Sudan, Iraq, Palestine, Libya, Tunisia, and Morocco. Two of the scientists were from Tunisia's Ministry of the Environment, while one was from Libya’s National Committee to Combat Desertification.
