On July 17, 2019, Wang Ju, the wife of the Chinese Ambassador to Mauritius, attended a donation ceremony to donate equipment to various unspecified women empowerment centres around the country to help Mauritian women integrate into society according to the Embassy of China in Mauritius. The equipment donated, including personal computers, printers, body shapers, bikes, steppers, treadmills, cooker, baking trays, and mixers among other pieces, was worth approximately Rs 700000. The donation was organized by the Chinese Embassy, The Vice-Prime Minister, the Minister of Local Government and Outer Islands, and the Minister of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare in Mauritius.
