Narrative

Full Description

Project narrative

On March 11, 2005, the Chinese Embassy in Guyana donated an advanced ophthalmic operating microscope to Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). The microscope was produced by 66 Vision Tech Co., Ltd. The microscope was capable of cataract removal through the use of phacoemulsification surgery. This was the first time this technology had been introduced to Guyana. The Chinese Embassy donated the microscope to help GPHC handle eye disease and reduce its large backlog of cataract removal procedures.
